Day 1 Studios Announces Jon Kimmich As Company's New Producer And Director Of Business Development

Day 1 Studios, creators of MechAssault and MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf™ for the Xbox™, today announced that Jon Kimmich has joined the company as Producer and Director of Business Development. Kimmich's 15+ years spent at Microsoft Game Studios™ (MGS) have given him a deep understanding of both the creative and business sides of game development. At Day 1, one of Kimmich's first and key responsibilities will be to leverage his proven track record in selecting and cultivating successful game franchises to lead a Day 1 development team in the creation of a next generation console title.
Before joining Day 1, Kimmich was most recently a lead product planner at MGS, where his responsibilities included securing intellectual property and first-party development capacity for the launch of Microsoft's Xbox. He established successful relationships with key developers to create critically acclaimed and commercially successful entertainment, in addition to helping developers (such as Big Huge Games™ and Gas-Powered Games™) start their companies. Kimmich was also responsible for spearheading the acquisition of FASA Interactive (developers of MechWarrior4™ and Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge™),and Bungie Studios (creators of Halo and the soon-to-be-released Halo 2).
Jon has been a driving force behind the originality and quality of products in the Microsoft Games portfolio, said Denny Thorley, president of Day 1 Studios. Before joining MGS, Kimmich held other positions at Microsoft, which included program management lead at MSN™ Production, where he was responsible for developing online programming (both internally and externally) for the Network. He was also a development manager for the new product development group in Microsoft's Hardware Team, responsible for the conceptualization and development of software and hardware for Microsoft Hardware devices such as the award-winning Microsoft Natural Keyboard. Kimmich began his career at Microsoft in 1988 as a Software Developer.
